Infosys is one of India's largest IT employers and a top target for engineering freshers. The process has evolved with the introduction of InfyTQ as a primary screening mechanism.
Stage 1: InfyTQ Certification
InfyTQ (Infosys Technology Quotient) is Infosys's own learning and assessment platform. Clearing the certification increases your chances significantly during on-campus drives and is sometimes a prerequisite for off-campus applications.
The certification covers: programming fundamentals (Python or Java), database concepts, logical reasoning, and communications skills. The passing threshold is 65% or above.
Preparation: Complete the InfyTQ course modules — they are specifically designed to align with the test. Practice SQL queries (joins, subqueries, aggregations) and basic Python/Java programming problems.
Stage 2: Online Test
For campus recruitment, Infosys typically conducts a 2-section online test:
- *Reasoning and Mathematical Ability:** Quantitative aptitude (percentages, ratios, time-distance), verbal reasoning (sentence completion, error correction), logical reasoning (arrangements, blood relations). 40 questions, 65 minutes.
- *Coding:** 2 programming problems. Easier than typical product company coding tests — focus on correct logic over optimization. Getting partial marks for a working brute-force solution is better than attempting an optimized incomplete solution.
Stage 3: Technical Interview
Duration: 30–45 minutes. Infosys technical interviews for freshers focus on:
- *Core subjects:** OOP (especially with code examples in your chosen language), DBMS (SQL queries are almost always asked — write a query to find third-highest salary, join two tables on a condition), data structures (linked lists, sorting algorithms, basic trees).
- *Your project:** Same depth as other IT companies — know it thoroughly. The interviewer may go deeper into specific technology choices or ask you to explain an algorithm you used.
- *Frequently repeated questions:**
- "Write a program to check if a string is a palindrome."
- "What is normalization? Explain 1NF, 2NF, 3NF."
- "What is the difference between delete and truncate in SQL?"
- "Explain the concept of inheritance in OOP."
- "What is the difference between an abstract class and an interface?"
Stage 4: HR Round
Infosys HR rounds are straightforward. Standard questions: tell me about yourself, strength and weakness, why Infosys, are you willing to relocate, expected joining date. Have a genuine answer for "why Infosys" that references their specific focus areas (digital transformation, AI, cloud services).
One often asked question: "What do you know about Infosys Foundation or their social initiatives?" This is an indicator of whether you've researched the company beyond its stock price.
Preparation Strategy
Allocate 3 days to InfyTQ modules if not already certified. 2 days on SQL, OOP, and data structures. 1 day on your project deep-dive. 1 day on HR preparation and mock interviews.
Use VividMock's fresher campus track to simulate the technical and HR rounds. The AI asks the same category of questions Infosys interviewers consistently use.
